Office of the Commissioner of the Revenue

The Office of the Commissioner of the Revenue is responsible for the assessment of various taxes mandated by the Code of Virginia and Newport News Local Tax Ordinances. Our office also offers, as a free service to Taxpayers, assistance in filing their Virginia State Income Tax Return. Our office is also happy to announce that we are now providing DMV Select services at both of our Newport News locations between the hours of 8:30 AM and 4 PM, Monday – Friday. We seek to provide efficient service and friendly assistance in the performance of these many duties.

DMV Connect

The Department of Motor Vehicles Customer Service Center DMV Connect will be visiting our City Hall at 2400 Washington Avenue, Newport News, Virginia, every other month starting in January.
