[ARCHIVED] Student Charged with Possessing Gun on School Property UPDATE

UPDATE:  The Warwick High School gun incident did not result from a fight. A tip was received from within the school that the 16 year old juvenile offender was in possession of a firearm. A search of the juvenile revealed a concealed.38 caliber revolver.

On Wednesday, September 13th, 2017, at approximately 12:40 PM, there was a reported fight at Warwick High School located in the no hundred block of Copeland Lane in Newport News. The students were immediately separated and searched by school security, who located a loaded .38 caliber revolver concealed on one of the juveniles involved in the altercation. The juvenile was identified as a 16 year old Newport News male. The juvenile is a Warwick High School 10th grade student. The revolver was seized by officers, and the juvenile was transported to Juvenile Intake and charged with Underage Possession of a Firearm and Possession of a Firearm on School Property. After the charges were filed, the juvenile was taken to Juvenile Detention.
