[ARCHIVED] Happy Shopper Shooting Incident

On August 16th, 2017, at 7:50 PM, Newport News Police were in the area of 48th Street and Marshall Avenue when numerous gunshots were heard. While officers were checking the area, they were informed that a female was shot in front of the Happy Shopper located in the 4700 block of Marshall Avenue. Officers located the female victim, a 19 year-old Newport News woman suffering from a gunshot wound to her right thigh. 


Moments later, officers were dispatched to the 3400 block of Wickham Avenue in reference to a second victim, a 31 year-old Newport News man, who was lying outside on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound to his left thigh and left forearm. A vehicle was also located parked in the same area with damage from gunfire. Both victims were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A security video of this incident captures an unknown male walking over to the gas pumps and start shooting towards another subject who was by a vehicle. Gunfire ensued between the two males and the vehicle that the male victim was in fled the scene. The female victim injured at the scene was at the other side of the parking lot. There is no suspect information at this time and the investigation remains ongoing. A video of this incident is attached
