On August 2, 2017 at approximately 2:45 AM, Newport News Police responded to the 400 block of Oyster Point Road in reference to a robbery from individual. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the victim, a 44 year old Hampton man, who is a taxi driver for a local cab company. The victim stated he responded to the no hundred block of Menchville Road to pick up a male. Upon arriving in the area, the offender was outside near the roadway and requested a cab ride to another location in Newport News. While the victim was driving the taxi, the offender grabbed the collar of his shirt and placed an unknown hard object into his neck/shoulder area. The offender demanded money from the victim. The victim complied and handed over an undisclosed amount of money to the suspect. After taking the money, the offender demanded the victim drive onto Warwick Boulevard. The offender then exited the taxi and fled the area on foot. After the offender fled the area, the victim drove to a nearby store to call police. The suspect was described as a black male, late 20’s to early 30’s, small afro, 6’0 tall, 200lbs, wearing a dark green shirt, black pants and a baseball cap.
