On July 30, 2017, at 6:19 PM, Newport News Communications received a call of a shooting in the 500 block of York River Lane. Upon officers arrival, an adult male and female were located suffering from gunshot wounds. The female victim, 29, was pronounced deceased at the scene and the adult male victim is currently at a local hospital and has life threatening injuries. There were two children, ages 6 and 1, inside the residence during the incident and they were not injured. The children are at another residence safe at this time. The investigation into this incident in ongoing.
