Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter Logo

The Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter, in partnership with WAVY-TV 10 and WVBT FOX 43, is excited to take part in this year's “Clear the Shelters” campaign. This will be the shelter’s first year participating in this nationwide campaign with hopes of finding forever homes for the animals.

The shelter will spend four weeks gearing up for the “National Clear the Shelter Day” which is on August 19. From July 18 through August 18, the shelter will highlight different types of animals that are available for adoption through educational programs and adoption promotions. Week 1 will focus on pocket pets, from hamsters to reptiles. Week 2 will focus on senior animals, the dogs and cats that are over eight years old.  Week 3 will focus on the "Yellow Dog Project,” dogs and cats that have special needs and considerations.  Week 4 will focus on pit bulls, with education for a better understanding of the breed.

On Saturday August 19, the shelter will be open from 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. for the “National Clear the Shelter Day.” There will be reduced adoption fees for all of the animals and same-day adoptions. All cats, dogs, puppies and kittens are spayed or neutered, micro chipped and provided with age appropriate vaccines.
