6/14/17 UPDATE:
The victim in this accident has been identified as 27-year-old Arturo Cax-Hernandez of the no hundred block of Lewis Drive in Newport News.
6/10/17 RELEASE:
On June 10th, 2017 at 9:34 PM, Newport News Communications received a call of an auto-pedestrian accident at the intersection of Oyster Point Road and Jefferson Avenue. A white male was struck by a vehicle and pronounced deceased at the scene. The victim has not been identified at this time. The vehicle involved in this accident remained at the scene. Traffic is heavy around this intersection and motorists are urged to take an alternate route. The Newport News Police Department Crash Team Unit will be investigating this accident. We will release further details when they become available.
