[ARCHIVED] Happy Shopper/Citgo Robbed - Serial Robber Suspected

On September 2, 2016 at 7:27 )PM an unknown man walked into the Happy Shopper/Citgo, located at 12100 Jefferson Avenue, displayed a hand gun and robbed the business and a patron of cash. The victim, a Newport News man, was at the register making a purchase when the man entered and demanded his wallet which the victim had in his hand making payment. The man then forced the clerk to open the register and he took cash.

The suspect is described as a black male, 6’0”-6’2” in height, about 45 years old with a slim build, scruffy appearance, wearing a black baseball hat, black hoody, black pants, black shoes, black gloves and black/mirrored sunglasses; armed with a black semi-automatic handgun. He exited the business and drove away in a red 1992, Chevrolet Blazer.

Police have recovered the vehicle which was reported stolen. Based on the stolen vehicle, discarded clothing in the vehicle and the manner of robbery, detectives believe the man to be the same as the suspect of the recent serial robbery incidents in Newport News.
