[ARCHIVED] Man Dies After Being Struck By Vehicular Traffic

On June 17, 2016, at 9:25 pm, Newport News Police Communications received a call of an auto pedestrian accident in the area of Shields Road and Jefferson Avenue. Police and Medics responded locating a male victim who was pronounced deceased on scene. Initial reports indicated the victim was struck by four vehicles. The second vehicle which struck the victim left the scene is described as a dark blue or black 4-door sedan possibly a Nissan Altima, this vehicle was traveling South on Jefferson Avenue when it struck the victim. The vehicle should have front end damage as a result of the crash. The first, third and fourth vehicles to strike the victim remained at the scene and the drivers cooperated with the investigation.

Next of kin has been located and the victim is identified as 54 year old Tyrone Patrick of the 13000 block of Christy Lane in Newport News. The investigation is ongoing by the Newport News Police Department’s CRASH Team.
