[ARCHIVED] Compost and Mulch Available at the Recovery Operations Center

Did you know that the compost and mulch offered at the Recovery Operations Center (formerly known as the Denbigh Compost Facility) is available to the general public? If you are sprucing up your yard this fall, you can get these products by the pickup-truckful at bargain prices (cash or check only)!

• Compost (certified by the US Compost Council and the VA Compost Council) - $22/cubic yard
• Mulch (dye-free) - $13/cubic yard
• Mulch Fines –finely grounded mulch - $16/cubic yard
• Earth-n-rich Blend – (blend of compost, mulch fines and soil – great for establishing grass seed) - $27.99/cubic yard

1 cubic yard = approximately 1 pickup truck load

Newport News residents who pay the Solid Waste User Fee can get mulch for free if they shovel it themselves!

Compost improves soil nutrients and composition without polluting the Chesapeake Bay. Mulch helps control weeds and insulate plant roots.
