[ARCHIVED] Suspect South in Two Robberies in Central Precinct

On Sunday, June 5, 2016 at 7:00 PM a Newport News man was walking on Forrest Dr. at Jefferson Ave. when a two-door vehicle (possibly a Nissan) pulled up and a Hispanic male exited the passenger side. The suspect demanded the victim’s phone and all of his property. The victim handed the suspect his cell phone and the suspect struck the victim's head with a small black handgun, then returned to the waiting vehicle driven by a white female. Two persons parking their vehicle in an adjacent lot observed the incident.

At 2:00 a.m. the same day (6/5/2016, 17 hours earlier) a similar incident occurred as another male Newport News resident was walking home near #10 Sierra Drive, and a vehicle pulled up behind him. A Hispanic male exited the vehicle from the passenger side. The suspect approached the victim with a small black handgun and took the victim’s cell phone.

Both incidents occurred in the Central Precinct of the City. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, tall, skinny face, curly hair, blue jeans; armed with small black semiautomatic handgun.
