[ARCHIVED] Now accepting applications for Firefighter-Medic Recruit

The Newport News Fire Department and the Hampton Division of Fire and Rescue are currently conducting our annual consolidated hiring process. The application period opened today, July 27th and will close on August 20th. Our consolidated hiring process allows candidates the opportunity to participate in one hiring process for consideration by either jurisdiction exclusively or both jurisdictions concurrently. Both jurisdictions offer high levels of service in fire and emergency medical services to their citizens as well as a variety of specialized operations. Neither jurisdiction requires industry specific certifications to be part of the process; however, preference points are awarded for Advanced Life Support EMS certifications (EMT-Intermediate and EMT-Paramedic), Tidewater Regional Fire Academy graduates and Honorably Discharged veterans.

Interested individuals can visit nnfdcareers.nnva.gov for information and to complete the online application and test registration form. Individuals having problems completing the application may contact Chief Craft via email at rcraft@nnva.gov. The first component of this process, the written test, will be administered August 26-29, 2015 at the Hampton Roads Convention Center located at 1610 Coliseum Drive, Hampton, VA 23666.

Interested individuals are encouraged to visit nnfdcareers.nnva.gov for additional information regarding this hiring process, and www.nnva.gov/fire for information regarding the Newport News Fire Department, and www.hampton.gov\fire for information regarding the Hampton Division of Fire and Rescue.
