Newport News will host the Swimming events for the 2015 AAU Junior Olympic Games on July 30 – August 2, 2015 at the Brittingham-Midtown Community Center (570 McLawhorne Drive). Three hundred and eighty-three swimmers age 8 – 18 will compete in the center’s 50-meter indoor pool.
The AAU Junior Olympics is the largest multi-sport event for youth in the United States. Approximately 15,000 athletes from all fifty states, as well as Washington DC and Puerto Rico, will compete in twenty sporting events in venues throughout Chesapeake, Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Hampton, and Newport News. This is the fifth year that Hampton Roads, including Newport News, has hosted the AAU Junior Olympic Games (previously hosted in 1998, 2001, 2006, and 2010).
