Newport News City offices will be closed on Friday, July 3 in observance of the Independence Day holiday. This includes City Hall, City offices at City Center at Oyster Point, Newport News Waterworks' customer services offices, the Public Works Operations Center, and both locations of the Treasurer's Office and Commissioner of the Revenue's Office (City Hall and Denbigh).
In addition, all Newport News public libraries and the Newport News Drop-Off Center and Compost Facility (i.e., landfill) will be closed on Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4.

This holiday does not affect garbage, recycling and bulk waste collections, which will take place as scheduled for the week. (NOTE: Friday is not a regularly scheduled solid waste collection day.)
