Newport News City Council is seeking applicants to serve on the newly re-established Mayor’s Committee for Persons with Disabilities. The Committee will serve in an advisory capacity to City Council to analyze the needs of people with disabilities in the city. The Committee will make recommendations on how the city can meet the varied and changing needs of people with disabilities. They will also work to assure compliance with State and Federal Law and provide input on how to remove barriers that confront people with disabilities.
To be appointed to a board, commission, or committee in Newport News, individuals must be a resident of Newport News and submit to a background check. Individuals are appointed by a majority vote of Council Members.
