In addition to these signature events, additional experiences and activities will be added throughout the year.  The city’s World Arts Celebration, which highlights the cultural diversity of Newport News and our community, is being updated for 2023; more information will be available soon.

The International Festivals & Events Association recognized several city events in 2022.  The Outdoor Enthusiast Event, which began in 2022, received the Bronze Award for Best New Festival or Event.  The event also received awards for best advertisement and promotional item.  The city’s renowned Celebration in Lights at Newport News Park won a Gold Award for best promotional brochure, and ARTech Lights, a holiday event in the city’s Southeast Community, won a Bronze Award for best promotional photo. With additional enhancements planned for 2023 events, the Special Events team is poised to bring more awards home to Newport News while also offering guests memorable moments in our city.

Most events are weather dependent, so be sure to check the Newport News Special Events website and follow us on Facebook for updated information.
