One City Marathon logoThe 2023 Newport News One City Marathon celebrates its ninth year with races, celebrations and activities March 3-5. Registration is now open for all races at Newport News Shipbuilding is the Presenting Sponsor for One City Marathon weekend and has been since the inaugural event in 2015.

With runner packet pick-up starting March 3, the races begin Saturday, March 4, with the Optima Health Maritime 5K at Newport News City Center and the Nautical Mile Fun Run, once again sponsored by Ferguson. Enjoy family-friendly fun during the One City Celebration at City Center that morning.

The One City Marathon takes place Sunday, March 5. Known for fast times and a high percentage of Boston Marathon qualifiers, the event begins in Newport News Park and takes runners on a 26.2-mile flat and fast course down the city’s historic streets. Sunday’s events also include the BayPort Credit Union Half Marathon, which starts at Menchville High School and follows the last half of the marathon course. In addition, the One City Celebration continues Sunday in the city’s Yard District. The entire community is invited to 23rd Street to welcome runners and enjoy food, drinks, activities, and vendors.

Again this year, runners can participate in more than one race or register for one of two multi-race challenges to earn additional medals, special edition hats, and bragging rights. Visit the registration page for pricing and additional details.

Community partners make One City Marathon Weekend possible, including longtime supporter Riverside Health System who joins Newport News Shipbuilding, BayPort Credit Union, Optima Health and Ferguson as returning sponsors for 2023.
