The contractor for the Ft. Eustis Boulevard (Route 105) Bridge Replacement over CSX project has major structural steel delivery and installation scheduled for Thursday, February 5th. Motorists in the area will encounter flaggers and experience periodic, briefs stoppages during the day.
Five steel beams are scheduled to be delivered by truck between 9 AM and 3 PM on Thursday, weather dependent. During this time Fort Eustis Boulevard will be under a flagging operation adjacent to the bridge work zone. Each truck will take approximately 30 minutes to offload. The trucks will be offloaded in the westbound lane adjacent to the work zone. Two cranes will pick up the beams and position them in place. During this portion of the work all traffic in both directions will be stopped. It is estimated that traffic will be stopped for approximately 10 minutes at a time. Motorists should be prepared for delays. The work will stop by 3 PM on Thursday. If it is not finished at that time, the operation will resume at 9 AM Friday, February 6th.
Due to the close proximity of high voltage transmission lines to the site, this work is too dangerous to be performed at night.
