Thanksgiving Holiday Closing & Schedules
- City Offices – closed Thurs., Nov. 26 and Fri., Nov. 27
- Libraries – closed Thurs., Nov. 26 and Fri., Nov. 27
- Garbage, recycling and bulk waste collections – Thurs., Nov. 26 collections will take place on Mon., Nov. 30. All regularly scheduled collections for the week of Nov. 30 will be delayed one day, i.e., Monday's collections will take place on Tuesday, Tuesday's on Wednesday, Wednesday's on Thursday, and Thursday’s on Friday.
- Recovery Operations Center (i.e., landfill) – closed Nov. 26-28
- Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter (serves the residents of Newport News, Hampton, Poquoson and York County) – closed Thurs., Nov. 26; open for adoptions 12-5, Fri., Nov. 27; lobby open daily from 8 AM – 5 PM for owner surrenders, reclaims and stray drop offs.
