We each play a part in slowing the spread of COVID-19. Masks and cloth face coverings are some of the most powerful tools in our battle against the coronavirus. Remember to wear a mask that covers your nose and mouth, wait six feet apart and wash your hands.

Newport News restaurants and businesses have joined our Mask Up, Newport News campaign. Check out our new video, which features many well-known faces and popular city sites that are open for business. Wear a mask and follow safety guidelines so they stay open!

Mask Up Design Challenge

To prevent the spread of COVID-19, the Commonwealth of Virginia requires that people wear cloth face coverings when spending time in indoor public settings. While we all need to mask up, there’s no reason that our masks have to be boring!

To highlight the creativity and talents of residents, the City of Newport News is launching a Face Mask Design Challenge! Residents of all ages are invited to design a face mask that you’d proudly wear
