On Wednesday January 21st, 2015, detectives released video in reference to 3 commercial burglaries in the southeast community of Newport News. On January 22, 2015, Newport News Police detectives received information in reference to the commercial burglaries that occurred at the H&H, Big Apple, and Bronx Deli. Wardell Wright of the 1100 block of 16th St. was taken into custody at his residence, and charged with 3 counts of burglary, 3 counts possession of burglary tools, 3 counts of grand larceny, and 2 counts of wearing a mask in commission of a felony. Wardell Wright was also charged with possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia. The majority of the property taken from the stores and other evidence was recovered. Mr. Wright is currently in custody at the Newport News City Jail. Due to the media, community, and information provided to crime line, detectives were able to quickly locate and apprehend Mr. Wright in connection with these commercial burglaries.
