The City of Newport News recognizes the impact the Not for Profit (NFP) community has on the citizens of Newport News. In an effort to help offset the financial pressures these NFP have due to COVID-19, the City has established the CARES Act Grant Program.
The purpose of this grant is to provide operational and/or project support for NFP agencies serving Newport News citizens, who can demonstrate expenses incurred and paid between March 1, 2020 and December 2020 for the purpose of limiting business interruptions due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Priority consideration will be given to applications that provide social safety net activities such as financial stability, food and nutrition, literacy/education/attainment, health, housing, positive behaviors/healthy relationships, and/or support/community/social networks.
Applications are being accepted beginning 9 AM on Monday, August 24, 2020, and will be available on this website.
For any questions regarding the CARES Act Grant Program, please contact the Budget and Evaluation Department at 757-926-8733 or e-mail them at firstname.lastname@example.org.
