A draft of the City of Newport News’ Five-Year Consolidated Plan for Housing and Community Development (2020-2024), which includes the Annual Action Plan for Fiscal Year 2020-2021, is now available for public review and comment. The Five-Year Consolidated Plan for Housing and Community Development is a planning requirement of the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for the receipt and use of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME) funds. As a recipient of these funds, the City is required to prepare a long range plan that identifies housing, homeless and community and economic development needs and determines priorities, establishes strategic goals and allocates anticipated resources.
A public meeting to receive citizen comments on the draft plan will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2020, 6:00 p.m. at the Downing-Gross Cultural Arts Center (2410 Wickham Avenue, on the first floor in the Banquet Room). The public comment period ends on August 11, 2020.
A copy of the Plan is available for review and comment until August 11, 2020 at all Newport News public libraries, the Department of Development and Newport News Redevelopment and Housing Authority and on our website HERE.
