We encourage citizens to register to vote, update voter registration information, or request an absentee ballot online.
Due to COVID-19, voters may request an absentee ballot by mail for the May 5th General Election using “My disability or illness” if they do not have another qualifying reason.
Although Newport News City offices are closed to the public, the Newport News Office of Elections will offer curbside services during regular office hours, if needed. Please park where you see a Voter Parking sign in the parking lot of City Hall and contact our office via telephone at 757-926-8683 should you require assistance.
- The deadline to register for the May 5, 2020 General Election for City Council and School Board is Monday, April 13th. (5:00 PM for in person & 11:59 PM online.
- The deadline to request an absentee ballot by mail for the May 5, 2020 General Election is 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28th .
