Holiday Happenings at Newport News Historic Sites

Both Endview Plantation and Lee Hall Mansion will be decorated for the season with period-appropriate Christmas decorations starting on December 1st through December 30th. Guided tours of both sites included with admission, offer a glimpse of common holiday customs that were practiced in the years before the Civil War.

To create something traditional and festive for your own use, participate in one of Endview’s wreath making workshops. The two hour session offers participants a chance to make their own grapevine wreath using natural period appropriate materials. The session also includes a lecture on historic holiday customs as well as a tour of Endview Plantation. The workshop is led by members of the Peninsula Master Naturalists. Workshop dates are December 7th from 2PM to 4PM and December 8th 1PM to 3PM. The cost is $15.00 per person and includes all materials. For reservations call (757) 887-1862 or email endview@nnva.gov.

On the evenings of December 12th and 13th, St. Nick will be present at Endview. Advance reservations are required for this program that includes private family time with St. Nick. Adults accompanying their child are requested to bring one wrapped present for their child and a can of non-perishable food to donate to a local food bank. Admission is $5 per child. Reservations can be made by calling (757) 887-1862 or by email endview@nnva.gov
