[ARCHIVED] Election Day is Nov 5; absentee voting now underway

On Tuesday, November 5, Newport News voters will head to the polls to elect members of the Virginia Senate and House of Delegates, as well as Clerk of Court. Registered voters who will be away from Newport News on Election Day, or who are unable to vote due to a disability, may vote by absentee ballot. Eligible citizens may vote in-person prior to Election Day or apply to have an absentee ballot mailed to them. In-person absentee voting is available at City Hall, Monday – Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM and at the City Center office on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 AM to 5 PM. Both locations will be open on Saturday, October 26 and Saturday, November 2 from 9 AM to 5 PM for in-person absentee voting. Voters can also request an absentee ballot be mailed to them. The deadline to request an absentee ballot by mail is 5:00 PM on October 29. For more information visit the Voter Registrar’s website.
