The sixth annual Newport News One City Marathon will take place on Sunday, March 1, 2020. The event returns with a full line-up of activities for people of all ages and abilities.
A number of exciting enhancements are being added to marathon weekend in 2020, including a cash prize to the winners of the One City Marathon Relay, the first time this is being offered. In addition to the marathon and relay events, 2020 races include a half marathon, 8K Run/Walk, and Nautical Mile Kids Fun Run. Registration is now open for all races at www.onecitymarathon.com.

In 2019, more than 2,550 people participated in all five races and nearly 17% of runners qualified for the Boston Marathon. Out of all marathons completed to date in 2019, the Newport News One City Marathon has the 13th highest percentage of Boston qualifying finishers, one of the highest on the East Coast and the greatest in Virginia.

Presented by Newport News Shipbuilding, the sixth annual Newport News One City Marathon takes place Sunday, March 1, 2020. The marathon course runs the entire 26-mile length of the city, with Newport News Park as the setting for the start of the race and the Victory Arch downtown serving as the finish line. Along the way, the certified course takes runners past various cultural amenities, educational institutions, businesses and neighborhoods. The marathon, which also offers a relay option, culminates at a One City, One Celebration event at the Super Block. In addition to the marathon and marathon relay, there is a half marathon, 8K Run/Walk, and a Nautical Mile Kids Fun Run. Marathon weekend (February 28-March 1, 2020) also includes a Health and Wellness Expo and other community focused events.
