Effective Monday, November 5, 2018, the main lobby at the Newport News Police Department Headquarters Building (9710 Jefferson Avenue) will be changing their hours of operation. Currently, the lobby is open 24 hours a day. After a thorough utilization study and for safety reasons, the decision was made to change walk-in hours to 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. No one will be allowed in the building after 8:00 p.m. Saturday hours will be 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and the lobby will be closed on Sundays. The lobby will also be closed on all city-recognized holidays.

This has absolutely no effect on emergency calls made to 911 or the non-emergency number 247-2500, which are handled at the 911 Communications Center on Washington Avenue. This change only affects the hours for administrative operations at NNPD Headquarters.
