On July 6, 2018, at 8:36 p.m. officers were dispatched to the 3600 block of Roanoke Avenue in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered a 10-year-old male victim with a non-life threatening wound to the head that was transported to a local hospital and later released. The investigation revealed that the victim was inside a home when at least one stray bullet entered the home injuring the victim. A witness described two black males walking south in the 3000 block of Roanoke Avenue when an older model four-door vehicle pulled up and shots were fired from the vehicle.
At 8:54 p.m., the same evening, officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Ridley Circle in reference to a gunshot victim. Upon arrival, it was discovered that a 16-year-old victim, one of the two males seen by the witness earlier, was suffering from a non-life threating gunshot wound to his left hand and was transported to a local hospital. The investigation revealed the person responsible for the shooting was Decarlos Douglas, a 18-year-old male of the 2000 block of Roanoke Avenue. Mr. Douglas was subsequently arrested and charged with: two counts of malicious wounding, one count of occupied building maliciously shoot/throw and two counts of firearm use in the commission of a felony and is currently being held on no bond.
The investigation revealed that the 10-year old was not the intended target.
