[ARCHIVED] Keeping the City Running – a Public Works video


Curious about what the Department of Public Works does for Newport News and its citizens? Get an inside look with a new video featuring staff from all nine City of Newport News Public Works divisions. As part of National Public Works Week, May 20-26, the department has launched a 5 minute video to show citizens how they “keep the City running.” Filled with fun facts and important information, this video gives citizens a better understanding the vital contribution Public Works professionals make every day to safely and efficiently manage city infrastructure.

Public Works Director Reed Fowler says, “The City’s Department of Public Works team is made up of 400 dedicated individuals who are all professionally trained and accredited. With more than 230,000 assets and over 500,000 service requests and work orders, it is a big job, but we’re doing it every day.”
