[ARCHIVED] NEWPORT NEWS POLICE DEPARTMENT MAKES ARREST IN RAPE CASE

On October 6th, 2017, Newport News Communications received a call of a rape in the Oyster Point area of Newport News.  The suspect in this incident was a stranger to the victim. The suspect was armed with a black and silver handgun and also took property from the residence that belonged to the victim.

After the sexual assault and robbery, he fled the residence in an unknown direction.  The victim described the suspect as a black male, approximately 6’01, heavy set, short haircut, and a short goatee.  He was last seen wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, multi-colored shirt underneath, black shorts, and black & white high top Nike shoes.

After a thorough investigation, detectives secured warrants against Ezekiel Joel Brown, a 23-year-old Newport News man and on January 24, 2018, he was arrested and charged with: 1 count of rape; 2 counts of sodomy; 1 count of abduction; 1 count of use of a firearm; and 1 count of robbery.

A booking photo will not be released at this time due to additional investigations.
