Presented by Newport News Shipbuilding, the fourth annual Newport News One City Marathon takes place Sunday, March 4, and with related events all weekend long there are fun activities for everyone. Registration is still open for all races – marathon, marathon relay, 8K and Nautical Mile Fun Run.
Start Marathon Weekend off at the free, two-day Health & Wellness Expo presented by Riverside Health System. Stop by Denbigh Community Center on Friday from 12-7 PM or Saturday from 10 AM until 5 PM. to find a variety of fitness and nutrition related vendors, preventative health information, interactive games and training evaluations.
Join the crowd on Saturday from noon to 3 p.m. for a celebration at the One City Marathon Family Fit and Fun Day! Enjoy a range of free activities for the whole family can at Brooks Crossing, 3100 Jefferson Ave. Then, spend the evening at the One City Marathon Pasta Dinner, sponsored by Riverside Health System and held at the new Boathouse Live venue in City Center. The event begins at 6 PM. Tickets are $17.50 each and are available online.
All races – marathon, marathon relay, 8K and Nautical Mile Fun Run – take place on Sunday with the marathon and relay beginning at 7:00 a.m. at Newport News Park and the 8K and Nautical Mile beginning at the Victory Arch in downtown Newport News at 7:30 AM and 10:00 AM respectively. Online registration is open through February 27, with registration also available at the Health & Wellness Expo and on race day at the start line of each event.
And from 8 AM to 2 PM on Sunday, the One City One Celebration takes place at Victory Landing Park at the finish line of the races. Enjoy music, food, runner relaxation areas, games and more.
