Newport News City offices will be closed on Tuesday, November 11th, in observance of the Veteran's Day holiday. This includes City Hall, City offices at City Center at Oyster Point, all public libraries, Newport News Waterworks' customer services offices, the Public Works Operations Center, and both locations of the Treasurer's Office and Commissioner of the Revenue's Office (City Hall and Denbigh). The Newport News Drop-Off Center and Compost Facility (i.e., landfill) will also be closed on Veterans Day.
Garbage, recycling, and bulk waste collections for the week will be as follows:
- Monday’s collections as scheduled; no change
- Tuesday’s collections will take place on Wednesday
- Wednesday’s collections will take place on Thursday
- Thursday’s collections will take place on Friday
Additionally, the City Council meeting regularly scheduled for Tuesday, November 11th, will take place on Wednesday, November 12th.
