As of 2:50 PM, the search has ended with negative results. Kiln Creek Elementary School’s lockdown has been lifted. Mr. Thacker remains at large.

On October 13th, 2017, at 11:56 AM, officers from the Newport News Police Department originally spotted a fugitive in the 600 block of Windbrook Circle in the Kiln Creek area of Newport News. The fugitive, John Edward Thacker, is “wanted” on several felony warrants out of multiple jurisdictions. The fugitive fled from police on foot. Residents may see several officers in the area of Kiln Creek as officers continue to search the area. Kiln Creek Elementary School is on lockdown as a precautionary measure as police search for the fugitive.
