[ARCHIVED] SEXUAL ASSAULT AND ROBBERY INVESTIGATION

NNPD Crime Alert

On October 6th, 2017, at 5:26 am, Newport News Communications received a call of a rape that had just occurred in the Oyster Point area of Newport News. The suspect in this incident is a stranger to the adult female victim. The suspect was armed with a black and silver handgun and also took property from the residence that belonged to the victim. After the sexual assault and robbery, the suspect fled the residence in an unknown direction. The suspect was described as a black male, approximately 6’01, heavy set, short haircut, and a short goatee. The suspect was last seen wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, multi-colored shirt underneath, black shorts, and black & white high top Nike shoes. The investigation remains ongoing.

The Newport News Police Department is deeply concerned for the community’s safety regarding this incident. We want to urge the public that if anyone observes a male matching this description, please call 911. We also want the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to Police.
