[ARCHIVED] DEPUTY COMMISSIONER OF THE REVENUE EARNS MASTER DEPUTY DESIGNATION

The Commissioners of the Revenue Association of Virginia announced that Deputy Commissioner of the Revenue Scott Motley has been awarded the title Master Deputy Commissioner of the Revenue, under the Master Designation program administered by the University of Virginia’s Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service and the School of Continuing and Professional Studies. The program was developed to enhance the professionalism of local government officials and their staff and is sanctioned by the Virginia General Assembly.

Mr. Motely joins Dava Kauffman, Priscilla Green, and Denise Barnes in the Newport News Commissioner of the Revenue office as they had previously been designated Master Deputy Commissioner of the Revenue.

The program, which takes a minimum of three years to complete, requires a combination of extensive education and governmental experience. The process is an ongoing educational experience which does not end with receipt of the Master designation. In order to maintain the Master designation, the Deputy Commissioner must satisfactorily complete a minimum number of hours in continuing education after receipt of the initial designation.
