CREW Hampton Roads January Luncheon: Brooks Crossing

Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) will be the first real estate and/or economic development association to receive an overview and tour of Brooks Crossing Innovation and Opportunity Center (BCIOC). It is located in Newport News’ Southeast Community adjacent to Downtown. BCIOC is a new 105,000 SF building and the result of collaboration by Newport News Shipbuilding, Old Dominion University and the City of Newport News.

BCIOC brings together shipyard workers, STEM outreach and workforce development. The first floor houses the STEM Digital Innovation & Fabrication Lab and the Brooks Crossing Opportunity Center while the upper floors house 600+ engineers and designers. The STEM Digital Innovation & Fabrication Lab is an instructional hub for STEM learning driven by team building and collaboration allowing opportunities for students and people of all ages, abilities, and disciplines to learn by designing creative solutions to real-world problems. It is the first and only lab of its kind in Virginia. The Brooks Crossing Opportunity Center is a centralized hub for customized, flexible, comprehensive, and innovative approaches to career awareness, skills development, wealth building, support services, and case management.
