Sister Cities of Newport News is pleased to welcome over 30 Chinese artists from Chengdu in Sichuan Province for a “pop-up” exhibition entitled NO BORDERS. This show features over 100 original oil paintings carried from China by artists and framed on-site. Sister Cities is hosting the unique exhibition from May 19-26 in the former JoS A. Funding is provided through a grant by the College of William & Mary’s Confucius Institute. These skilled and noteworthy modern oil painters will be in Newport News for nearly two weeks with their original art. The artists are willing to serve as guest artists or lecturers in some local venues (schools, museums, civic groups). Chengdu is home to ZiYang City, a “friendship City” with Newport News through the local non-profit, Sister Cities of Newport News. If your organization or school would like to host one of the Chinese artists, contact Sister City Newport News’ Executive Director Kate Helwig at info@sistercities-nn.com or 757-926-1348
