Win BIG in the 2017 Newport News Tourism Awareness Contest

Posted on May 12, 2017 at 7:36 AM by Communications Department

The contest is running in the Daily Press through May 23

This week was National Travel and Tourism Week and in celebration, Newport News Tourism is dedicating its annual Tourism Awareness Contest to the memory of Ella Fitzgerald, who was born in Newport News in 1917. The popular contest, dubbed Where in the World Can You Find Ella in Newport News, also puts a spotlight on the variety of WhereInTheWorld_SCentertainment and performing arts venues available in the city. Six prize packages, which range in value from the $367 Prelude to the $1,106 Encore, includes gift certificates for dining, shopping, lodging, and other fun things to do in Newport News.

The contest is running in the Daily Press newspaper now through May 23. Contestants are given photographic clues that match up to eight locations in Newport News where performances are held. All correct entry forms are entered into a drawing to select the prize winners (Hint: the Newport News Tourism website and Facebook page are great resources to help you find the answers!)

Contest entry forms are available for pickup from the Newport News Visitor Center, 13560 Jefferson Ave., and from the Parks, Recreation & Tourism office at 700 Town Center Drive (Suite 320). Entry forms are also available online.

All forms must be received by the Newport News Visitor Center by 5 p.m. May 23 and can be returned in person, by mail, fax, or e-mail. Winners will be notified by phone on May 31. Find a list of contest winners at the Visitor Center and online after May 31. The contest is open to all U.S. residents 18 years of age and older. No purchase is necessary. For more information about the “Where in the World …” contest and other National Tourism Week events, call the Newport News Visitor Center at 757-886-7777.
