Teacher Appreciation Week, May 8-12, was established to celebrate those who help shape the our futures of children. Since 1984, National PTA has designated one week in May as a special time to honor the men and women who lend their passion and skills
to educating our children. This year’s theme is “Teachers Deliver.” Teachers deliver so much to students—inspiration, motivation and, ultimately, their futures.
The Virginia Lottery has teamed up with Virginia Tourism Corporation and the Virginia PTA in support of National Teacher Appreciation Week to thank as many Virginia teachers as possible. The Virginia Lottery and the PTA have dedicated special areas on their websites for visitors to show their gratitude and send well wishes to educators. The Virginia Lottery allows visitors to send electronic thank you notes on the website or visitors can pick up thank-you notes at various Virginia Lottery Customer Service Centers. Each note includes a code that teachers can enter online for a chance to win a Virginia-themed vacation. The lucky winner will have a choice between a beach, mountain or wine-lovers experience. Click
