First World War Day at the Virginia War Museum

Take the opportunity to honor WWI on Saturday, May 6

On Saturday May 6, join the Virginia War Museum in celebration of First World War Day from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Throughout the day, exhibitsWWI Flyer_SC and displays are available for visitors’ viewing.

• At 11:00 a.m., the Museum launches the new Newport News WWI Port of Embarkation Guide, and
• A temporary display of Photos and Maps on Newport News Port of Embarkation in the First World War is available for viewing.
• At 1:00 p.m., Virginia National Guard Historian Al Barnes presents a discussion on “Many Roads Traveled, America’s Foreign Born Doughboys” about immigrants who served in the U.S. Army’s American Expeditionary Force during the First World War.
• Living Historians from the 1st Virginia Cavalry will have a display of uniforms and equipment of Virginia’s Cavalrymen in the First World War,

The event is free with regular Museum admission ($8.00 Adults/$7.00 Active Duty Service Personnel/$7.00 Senior Citizens and $6.00 for Children ages 7 to 18.
