Peninsula Seniors and Law Enforcement Together (S.A.L.T.) is sponsoring a CarFit Event on Thursday, May 4 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Northside Christian Church located at 1300 George Washington Memorial Highway in Yorktown. CarFit is a free community based educational program designed to help mature drivers assess how well they and their cars "fit" together

and what actions they might take to improve that fit. At a CarFit event, a team of trained professionals work with each participant to ensure they "fit" their vehicle properly for maximum comfort and safety.
In addition, if you carry a child safety seat, a specialist with the Virginia Health Department will be on hand to check for proper installation. The 12 point check-up takes about 20 minutes. Proper fit in your car can greatly increase the driver's safety and the safety of others. To schedule your CarFit appointment or for more information call York County Community Services at 890-3883.
The CarFit program was created by the American Society on Aging and developed in cooperation with the American Automobile Association (AAA), AARP and the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA). The Newport News Police Department, Newport News Parks, Recreation & Tourism, and Newport News Sheriff’s Office are all members of the Seniors & Law Enforcement Together Organization.
