Celebrate Cinco de Mayo At City Center

The City of Newport News is joining with Sinclair Communications to present Cinco in the City, on Friday, May 5, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at City Center at Oyster Point. This free event features music by Tumbao Salsero, food trucks, beverage sales, face painting, CInco in the City_SCand activities for all ages.

Tumbao Salsero consists of 11 band members who use full Latin percussion instruments such as timbales, congas, and bongos; two trumpets, two trombones, piano, bass guitar, and vocalists. Their repertoire includes Latin rhythms, including Salsa, Merengue, Guaguancó, Son Montuno, Jazz, Bomba, and Plena. Local food trucks are selling a variety of food items: Hawaiian Sno (shaved ice), Stuft (burritos), Tucanos Brazilian Grill, All in One Catering/Over the Moon Pizza, Pennsylvania Dutch Funnel Cake of Virginia, and Poppa P 1971.

Event parking is free. Blankets and chairs are allowed, but attendees cannot bring outside alcoholic beverages. Pets are not permitted in the event area. For more information, call 757-926-1400.
