9th Annual Community Empowerment Fair at Heritage High School

On Saturday, April 22, from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. take advantage of the multitude of resources offered at the 9th Annual Community Empowerment Fair at Heritage High School located at 5800 Marshall Avenue in Newport News. The event is free and open to the public.

More than 85 vendors can answer questions about community resources that range from finances and to safety and more. Staff from the Peninsula Health District van, Sentara Hospital and Port Warwick Medical can assist with health questions and provide tips about summertime health.

School age children can get a free haircut from Tomorrow’s Image Barber Academy of VA. As time allows, some adult haircuts may be provided but children’s haircuts take precedence. Moon bounce, games, give-aways, door prizes available are also available during the event.

The Port Authority Command Center, Virginia Natural Gas, Police, Fire and Sheriff’s office vehicles are on-site for viewing and at 12:30 p.m. watch a K-9 demonstration. Proceeds from onsite food sales at the event will support school programs. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult to attend.
