Newport News Public Schools' Student Advisory Group on Education is hosting a high school expo from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at Patrick Henry Mall in Newport News. The public is invited to attend the expo to learn more about how Newport News Public Schools is preparing high school students to graduate college, career ,and citizen-ready.

Students representing each high school are showcasing the options and opportunities available at their school. Through exhibits and demonstrations, students are showing community members how the school system is developing them into young adults who are college, career and citizen-ready. Visitors will be encouraged to talk with the student exhibitors and learn about their coursework, projects, clubs, civic activities, career exploration and other experiences that are preparing them for successful futures. The expo also includes a student art show and musical performances from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on the food court stage.
Newport News Public Schools' curriculum combines the Standards of Learning with the district's college, career and citizen-ready skills (information literacy, communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity and innovation, initiative and self-direction, social responsibility and collaboration) to better prepare students for success as learners, future employees, and contributing citizens.
