Peninsula Fine Arts Center (PFAC) is holding its annual college student juried exhibition,
Genesis 2017, from April 8-30 in the Ascending and Halsey Gallery.

The competition was open to full- or part-time art students enrolled at Christopher Newport University, Hampton University, The College of William and Mary, Thomas Nelson Community College, Norfolk State University, Old Dominion University, Virginia Wesleyan University, and Tidewater Community College. The original works include a variety of mediums.
This year’s guest juror for
Genesis is Asa Jackson, Artist & Executive Director of 670 Gallery, a contemporary art gallery in Hampton. Asa Jackson grew up on the peninsula and graduated from Hampton Roads Academy in 2007. Jackson is known for creating a wide range of paintings, sculptures, clothing designs and writings. After studying sociology at Boston University, Jackson moved to New York to pursue his art career. While living in New York, he participated in a number of group shows along the east coast. In 2012, he had his first solo exhibition at the Samuel Owen Gallery in Greenwich, CT. Since then, he has been living and working in Hampton Roads.
