Posted on April 4, 2017 at 10:06 AM by Communications Department

If your child is a Newport News middle school student, with your permission and a signed permission slip, you can provide them with a fun filled overnighter on Saturday, April 7th from 8:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Sunday, April 8th. The Newport News Mayor’s Lockin_SCYouth Commission is hosting a middle school alcohol and drug prevention lock-in at the Brittingham-Midtown Community Center, 570 McLawhorne Drive in Newport News

The free event includes a talent show, laser tag, basketball, games, group activities and much more.

Sponsored by the Mayor’s Youth Commission, Newport News Human Services, Alternatives, Inc., and Newport News Parks and Recreation, the event is funded by a Virginia Department of Alcohol Beverage Control grant. Guest speakers will talk about alcohol myths and facts.

For questions about the event or to receive a permission slip contact Rachael Asher, Youth Services Case Manager, at 757-609-2200 or rasher@nnva.gov.
