Project Homeless Connect

Posted on March 30, 2017 at 8:30 AM by Communications Department

The Newport News Department of Human Services (NNDHS) is holding the 1st Annual Project Homeless Connect (PHC) event on Thursday, April 13 from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The event is being held at the Doris Miller Center, 2814 Wickham Avenue in downtown Newport News.
PHC supports the Peninsula’s plan to end homelessness. It is a one-day, one-stop-shop event which aims to bring necessary services and resources to people who are homeless. Services will include access to community resources, core benefits, and health screenings, including AIDS and HIV screenings, haircuts, employment resources, and lunch for guests.

NNDHS is partnering with a variety of local and regional agencies and vendors to provide resources to those individuals who are, or are in jeopardy of becoming homeless. Through this inaugural event, a template will be developed that can be expanded beyond Newport News to incorporate other peninsula agencies and their resources and serve all Peninsula residents.
