United States Entered First World War April 6, 1917
The Virginia War Museum is holding a

commemoration of the centennial of American Entry in the First World War at 12 p.m., Thursday April 6. The highlight of the commemoration is the unveiling of the display
Old Dominion, Over There. This new exhibit honors Virginia’s military units that served in the war. The special exhibit will run through 2019. Following the unveiling, the museum is showing the 1925 silent WWI movie The Big Parade at 1 p.m.
Some of the highlights of the display are uniforms, artifacts, photos, and memorabilia from units that served in the 29th, 42nd and 80th divisions during the war. Visitors to the exhibit can also see the flag of the 117th MP Company of the 42nd Division and the uniform of William Bloxom of the 116th Infantry. Additional artifacts and photos that are not part of the regular

exhibit are being displayed in the museum foyer. Admission to the museum is free between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. for the event. After the event, the display will be open for viewing with regular museum admission.
