Tornado Preparedness Day is March 21
Anyone who lives in Virginia knows that the weather can change from day to day and even sometimes, hour to hour. With Spring approaching, and with it the increased chance for tornados, the Statewide Tornado Drill is an opportunity to prepare for tornado emergencies and to test public warning systems.

On Tuesday, March 21 at 9:45 a.m., the National Weather Service will send a test tornado warning over NOAA Weather Radios. This test signal simulates what people hear or see during an actual tornado warning. Local radio stations, TV stations and cable outlets will also broadcast the test message via the Emergency Alert System.
This is a great time to refresh your emergency plan with your family and
start your own tornado drill when you hear the emergency alert! You can also join other Virginians who show their support of the tornado drill by
registering to participate in the March 21 drill.

Virginia Department of Emergency Management web site. There you can review what you need to do before, during and after the drill.
